Smooth, glowing skin is something all of us want but few of us have.  Seeing red carpet celebrities posting pictures on social media of bikini bods that look flawless and fresh often leave us wishing we could share their seemingly superhuman genetics and wondering what kind of deal they must have made with the devil to maintain such beautifully smooth skin.

Although many have had secret (or not so secret) procedures and the luxury of being sponsored by some of the most famous cosmetic companies on the planet, there are things you can also do to give your skin that celebrity level look without actually being a celebrity yourself.  Here is a short list of things you can do to achieve a healthy glow of your own!

Be kind to your rind.  “Cleanliness is next to godliness” as the old saying goes, but know that your skin needs a good balance of natural oils as well as hydration to maintain maximum elasticity and softness.  Taking a long, hot shower sounds like a great way to unwind after a hard day’s work, but it isn’t the ideal way to treat your skin.  Besides removing the dirt and grime from your body, hot showers and baths also remove the natural oils your body produces to help keep your skin healthy.  Indulging yourself with a nice hot bath occasionally is no crime, but overdoing it on a regular basis can lead to dried out, unbalanced skin textures.  Keep the water warm instead of hot and be wary of harsh soaps, as they can strip you of that precious natural oil as well.

Same fun with less sun.  Enjoying an active outdoor lifestyle is a key component to overall health.  The sun exposure helps us to create vitamin D, which is a good thing.  BUT, it also exposes us to harmful ultraviolet rays, which is a bad thing.  How do we manage this?  With some solid moisturizing and using products that include a broad spectrum SPF of at least 15.  This won’t keep you from getting sunburned over long periods of exposure to sunlight, but it will help you and your skin from excessive sunlight, which is damaging.

Drink H2O for a healthy glow.  This one is a no-brainer.  Of all the celeb “secrets” out there, this one is the easiest to adopt into your own routine.  The benefits of drinking plenty of water everyday are many.  One of these benefits is increased skin health.  Water consumption is good for helping to remove toxins from your body and keeping a good balanced of hydration all throughout your body.
